Today I’m going to talk about something very different and not work related. I think that we all strive to find the balance between work and life, and then there are some of us who try and do our bit for the environment as well, however this is often such a hard balance to achieve.
Today marks World Ocean Day, and this got me thinking about what I could do to make the environment a better and cleaner place? Recently we have all seen the news on how plastic is so harmful to our oceans and the environment, and everyone is trying so hard to get local communities involved in cleaning up their beaches, because lets face it – every little bit helps.
However, I recently heard about a new craze – Plogging? Ever heard of this? Well plogging is a scandinavian workout that involves picking up trash while jogging. In Swedish, “plocka upp” translated means picking up, so you add that to “jogging” and you get “plogging.”
Although this trend is fairly new – started back in 2016 on Instagram – there seems to be plogging groups popping up all over the world.
I have to say I think that this is such a great initiative! You can get your workout in while helping to clean up our environment and it doesn’t cost you anything – all you need is your running gear and a bag for trash. Plogging is so simple and fun and helps create a cleaner and greener and more beautiful community.
So the next time you go for a jog – grab a rubbish bag and help clean up your environment, then take a pic and post it on Instagram and join the revolution of ploggers!!
